The Assist is a grassroots group of
people with a lifelong passion for sports
committed to raising funds to help kids experience the joy of
participating in organized games.
It’s
estimated that one in three children in Canada can’t afford to play
organized sports and while our economy is slowly rebounding, we still
worry that unfortunate figure may climb higher.
Our
goal is to ensure that
no player gets left behind due to financial constraints.
Since
our inception in 2007, ASSIST has helped more than 100 families by
defraying some of their expenses so their kids could register to play.
Essex and Windsor’s sports community is a tight knit group of committed
individuals whose passion has been known to drive their
generosity, and we plan to continue working with the community and
provide assistance as needs arise.
We
hold fundraising events such as pasta dinners, raffles and golf
tournaments throughout the year, but our showcase event is a 24-hour,
three-on-three hockey game in March.
We
hope that you’ll contribute in any way you can and that you’ll help
spread the word far and wide about our efforts to ensure that no child
is excluded from playing sports.
